With many states lifting their stay-at-home orders in recent or the coming weeks - just in time for summer, many people are left wondering, "Is summer still happening?" And if it is, is travel still safe? Before you plan that 4th of July bbq, or that labor day trip, let's take a look into if you should be traveling this summer.

Many states have either entered or are entering their phase 1 and 2 stages of their re-opening plans. Some states like New York and California have yet to lift their stay-at-home orders but are planning on entering phase 1 very soon. Coronavirus has put a halt to the everyday lives we knew in the last decade and with more masks, gloves, and attention to distance people are concerned on if a vacation is possible. And it might be.

Air travel still is deemed by the CDC as a necessity only activity, so flying might not be the best idea. But this could help another old age summer activity blossom - ROAD TRIP! Packing the car with your family whom you've already been quarantining with and setting out across the country in the safety of your own car, might not be the worst idea. It allows you to still get away from the constant reminder that life stuck inside sucks while staying as safe as you possibly can traveling. Taking a trip up the coast, to a secluded cabin in the woods, or across the desert, road tripping with your family and still practicing social distancing may be exactly what you need to still enjoy summer and stay safe.

As always with any type of travel, do you research, make a plan, and keep you and those around you safe. Some states are more advanced in their re-opening plans so make sure to research if where you're going is open to the point that you'd enjoy your vacation. You don't want to drive 6 hours to a city that is still shut down.
